The opportunity:
Report to Sous Chef, supervise team members, perform & co-ordinate general and specialized food preparation and cooking duties ensuring a consistently high quality of food product and service while maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic work area.
Your day to day:
• Apply and monitor food safety procedures to ensure all menu items are prepared and served in line with food safety standards
• Ensure that all meals are of a high quality, cost effective and within budget, and that all duties are performed in a manner that complies with Food Safety regulations
• Assist & relieve Sous Chef as and when required
• Responsible for ensuring all kitchen opening and closing procedures are followed
• Co-ordinate activities of a team in a kitchen environment ensuring portion control and food quality while maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic work area
• Organize appropriate equipment as required in preparation for events/ buffets
• Receipting & supervising of stock received from F&B Warehouse & storage of stock in accordance with food safety guidelines
• Monitor and motivate team members to achieve a high standard of guest service
• Conduct training and assess competency of team members to assist in team development & mentoring
What you’ll bring:
• Relevant Chef qualification(s) with Certificate III Commercial Cookery is essential
• Experience working in theme parks or corporate conference events setting is essential
• Industry experience in high volume kitchen operations is essential
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays across all the parks, as required by event schedules
• Effective leadership, communication skills, delegation & guidance
• Comprehensive understanding of food hygiene and Food Safety program
• Knowledge of customer dietary requirements
• Accredited Food Safety Supervisor an advantage
• Knowledge of market trends relating to food and menus
• Able to work at any Village Roadshow Theme Park property as required
